Why 2025 is The Year to Pursue a Degree in Health Informatics

What were your resolutions at the beginning of the year? Are you still sticking to them?

Most people abandon their resolutions by February. But 2025 is going to be your year. Whether you are hoping to finally earn that promotion at work, change careers, learn something new, or completely reinvent yourself, there is still plenty of time left in the year to make big changes.

In fact, 2025 might be the best time to consider pursuing a career in health informatics. With rapid growth and corresponding changes occurring within both the technology and healthcare industries, a Master’s Degree in Health Informatics can potentially open a lot of new doors for your career.

With a degree in health informatics, you can gain a variety of new skills, including analyzing large swaths of data, managing health records, facilitating cooperation between departments and optimizing systems to incorporate new technologies. The skills are useful in the healthcare, business and technology fields, and beyond.

Here are just a few of the reasons why now is the time to finally pursue that degree in health informatics.

Strong Potential Job Market

The average annual salary for healthcare informatics jobs in Missouri is about $78,000, which is well above the statewide average, including above the average for individuals with a college degree. Graduates can also be confident that they will be able to find a new job, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics currently projecting 16% industry job growth by 2033.

Cultural Shifts within Medical Field

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical landscape has dramatically changed. Though the industry itself has stabilized, it is clear some of these changes will be permanent, including the increased use of telehealth, increased remote patient monitoring (RPM), increased medical plan personalization and more. Each of these changes has increased the importance of having an informatics-savvy support force.

Introduction of New Technologies

New technologies affect all components of the medical industry, but they have especially impacted health informatics. Artificial Intelligence, wearables, 3D printing, automatic statement generation, and other new tech have collectively increased the amount of data involved in the medical decision-making process. Health informatics experts will play a critical role in ensuring this industry-wide change goes as smoothly as possible.

Growing Emphasis on Data Privacy and Security

A recent estimate indicates that the healthcare sector use 2.3 zettabytes of data, which is roughly enough for every single person on Earth to be watching 250,000 DVDs at once. That is a lot of data. And this number is only growing further. As the medical industry scales, the importance of privacy and security will grow, as well. A single healthcare informatics decision can have a multi-million-dollar impact.

Ongoing Post-Graduate Support

Lastly, 2025 is a great year to pursue a healthcare informatics Master’s Degree from Logan University because of the ongoing support all students will receive. In addition to being taught by industry-leading, student-focused faculty, students will also gain access to supplementary support, including job-search support, alumni networking and more.

Starting a new degree program is a big commitment. But this year is all about trying new things and pursuing those big goals. 2025 is going to be a great year for the Health Informatics program and we are excited about your interest.
